Roxas Blvd Breakwater White Sand

It should not be called “Manila Bay White Sand.” Manila Bay stretches from Mariveles, Bataan to Ternate, Cavite, a coastline of 190 km and an area of 1,994 square kilometers. Roxas Blvd Breakwater White Sand is more appropriate.

Earth Day 2020

We almost forgot. Today is Earth Day.
Let’s thank her for the space where we live, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and swear that we will never again harm her wildlife and their natural habitat, and we will reduce our wastes and carbon footprints.

CoViD-19 situation — My Two Cents Worth

The doctors and nurses and health workers, and scientists have the knowledge, and have shown the courage and will to fight this virus and the disease it causes. But even the strongest will and greatest scientific knowledge available may not be enough. The virus is evolving and the race is on to find a vaccine.
In the meantime, the number of CoViD-19 positive patients recovering from the disease is increasing. In our favorite hospital, out of 163 confirmed px, 63 have been discharged, 42 were in home isolation, 6 are in ICU, 22 are in individual rooms, and 25 have succumbed to the disease. From 144 hospital personnel three weeks ago, only 55 health workers are still in quarantine, and best of all, not a single doctor, nurse or health worker has died.
These real data only mean that hospital readiness and scientific capability are among the key factors in the fight against this pandemic. The experimental drugs being used are also proven effective on a case-to-case basis. But I am talking about a well-equipped and modern private hospital. What about the public health institutions? That I don’t want to speculate.
We can only hope that science develops the serum before this pathogen becomes more virulent that it can wipe us out from the face of this space rock called Planet Earth.
We must prepare for the worst. At the same time, let us also hope for the best.
May God bless us all.

And next time, let’s nuke ground zero.

Many animals have their own coronaviruses.
Our dogs and cats have them but they have vaccines and it’s not transmissible to humans. Many wild animals definitely have them too.
But if mankind (man-not-so-kind) continue to slaughter or traffic them for food then we are inviting disaster upon disaster upon disaster.
If we hurdle this ongoing pandemic, the next one could be just around the corner if countries and areas will not stop their people from poaching, trafficking and consuming dogs, cats, and civets, bats, pangolins and other wild life.
The next virus could be airborne like the common cold but twice as deadly as SARS-COV-2. We can’t even find shelter in our own homes.
Let’s all pray this won’t happen but let’s also pray that people will mend their ways.
And next time, let’s nuke ground zero.

Start clinical trials

Hopefully the Philippine medical system will start to accept and use inhibitor drugs that were used and somehow worked in China, Korea, the United States and other countries.
Inhibitors are not cure to the infection but could really help patients battle the virus for 14 to 21 days. Please please please do actual clinical trials that may save lives.

Crime Against Humanity

The poaching or trafficking or sale or consumption of wildlife must be declared as a heinous crime by every nation and a Crime Against Humanity by the United Nations.

We are all vulnerable and endangered

We, humans, are a long way to extinction but are now living dangerously amid the destruction of the planet that is our own doing. Now we know how it feels to be hunted like the endangered, vulnerable and threatened animals. Now we know how it feels to be on the line to be butchered. Now we know how it feels to be cut down unceremoniously.
When this is over, let’s hope that we will learn our lesson and be more humane to our fellow creatures in this world.

Climate Change # 1

This is part of what I’ve read and learned about Climate Change so far...

Trees absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) and, according to data, there are around 3 trillion trees in the world. In spite of this, more or less some 38 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide is still emitted to the atmosphere yearly. The United States, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, Russia, India and China are among the largest per capita CO2 emitters. These CO2 emissions are among the greenhouse gases trapped in the atmosphere for many years even centuries contributing to global warming, and the volume of the emissions is increasing annually.
While planting more trees may be one of the solution to global warming, a young hardwood can only absorb 48 pounds of CO2 per year. Hence, it would take at least 1.5 trillion new trees strategically spread throughout the world to counter the effects of CO2. Were not yet talking about other greenhouse gases like methane, nitrous oxide and trioxygen, and also chlorofluorocarbons, hydrochlorofluorocarbons and halons. Meanwhile, the greenhouse effect is already here with the worsening bushfires, continuous El Niño and La Niña cycles, extreme storms and floods, and other natural phenomena like weird hailstorms and rapid ice melting in and around the polar regions.

Taal Lake and Balayan Bay

Did you know?

There was a time that Taal Lake and Balayan Bay were connected thru the Pansipit River and it was navigable. During the eruption of 1754, volcanic debris blocked the river — the lake's sole outlet to the sea.

God’s wrath

I just noticed this from one of the photos in the web... from inquirer.net — also posted here is the screenshot of the inquirer.net page. It seems to be angry.

Earth watch # 1

If we go by science, this is the earth healing itself. Volcanic eruptions will fertilize the soil resulting to more trees and vegetation that will absorb carbon dioxide from the air and ground water then produce oxygen. As the earth warms, volcanoes will be active - in the Philippines, the Taal Volcano and Mexico's Popocatépetl volcano has also started spewing ashes and lava 3 days ago.

Also, there are at least 25 more volcanoes worldwide that are currently spewing volcanic ashes and lava or showing signs of possible eruption.

How to successfully apply for an Australian visitor’s visa

Before you apply, you must be ready to prove that you are applying for a visitor’s visa for tourism purposes only. It would help a lot if you have already travelled to Japan and Korea.
First step is to gather all your documents like birth certificate, bank statement, certificate of employment with compensation and other employment records, business papers if you’re self-employed. Prepare all evidences of your previous travels like photos and scanned or jpeg images of your visas and the departure and arrival stamps on your passport. Also, you may want to get an invitation thru email if you have friends or relatives in Australia.

Second step is to plan your trip to Australia and jot it down on paper. This is very important since this is needed in the application and will show how many days you will stay Down Under, as well as your planned date of arrival and departure.

Third step is to register online but before that you may want to read important matters in this website: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder/visit

To register for an ImmiAccount, visit this web address: https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login then follow the instructions.

It would be better if you apply for a visa at least one month before your planned trip to Australia. Once approved, you may then purchase your round-trip plane ticket.

Nowadays, Australia is in the news every day because of the bushfires and we are all praying for lots of rain to help extinguish the flames and stop the destruction. Still, the Land Down Under is a very beautiful place to visit with truly cheerful and hospitable people.

Good luck everyone and enjoy your trip to Australia!
